ROTARY CLUB OF COURTENAY SEMI-ANNUAL BOOK SALE
April 29, 30 and May 1st and 2nd, 2020

The Interact Club at G.P. Vanier is a hard-working group of selfless young people, who are committed to working for the good of their community, both at home and abroad. Recently they collected 20 boxes of goods for the Food Bank and raised $220 for the cause. They have contributed to the work of EDAS producing gift bags for the homeless in our community and beyond. For Christmas they sold poinsettias and baked goods to help fund a project, which they are doing with other Interactors in the Ukraine, to raise awareness about the value of vaccinations against childhood diseases.

Courtenay Rotary Club provided a turkey luncheon for close to 400 students and staff at Courtenay Elementary.
Generous sponsorships from Waypoint Insurance, Plates Eatery & Catering, and Thrifty Foods along with Rotary Club Fundraised dollars made this luncheon possible once again. Rotary Interact students from G.P. Vanier Sec. and Lake Trail Middle School helped Rotarians and WayPoint Insurance Staff members set up, clean up and provide some of the entertainment. Interact Students were instrumental this year, in transitioning the luncheon to include only recyclable or re-usable items.
Courtenay Rotary also funded 12 Food and Gift Hampers for CV Transition Society families. Canadian Tire donated laundry baskets, and Rotarians filled them with both perishable and non-perishable food, including Turkey. In addition, families received gifts for each child and mom. Thrifty Foods corporate donation helped Rotary put more food in every hamper!
